Mount Athos - daily roundtrip
Visit the holy mountain in the Aegean Sea and its beautiful
ancient monasteries on board of M/Y Antigoni.
M/Y Antigoni is a
comfortable motor yacht built in the traditional style of unsinkable
greec fishing boats. The boat has been owned and being operated by
the Austrian-born Gisela Giarenis and her husband Jorgos since its
construction in 1986.
daily from April to Oktober,
9:00 – 17:30 Uhr
The tour to Mount Athos starts at 9 a.m. at Ormos Panagias, the
small port of Agios Nikolaos, Sithonia, Chalkidike, Greece.
During the first three hours of a wonderful journey alongside
the Sithonia peninsula and her romantic shores, dolphins frequently
escort M/Y Antigoni. Mount Athos is coming closer and his 2033 meters
(approximately 6500 feet) become more and more impressive.
When arriving near the south end of the peninsula, Antigoni turns
back north and passes closely by the following eight
(out of a total of twenty) monasteries:
Agios Pavlos (St. Paul), Dionysos, Gregorios, Simon Petras, Xiropotamos,
Panteleimon, Xenophon und Dochiaros.

After this, Antigoni stops at the romantic small island
of Amouliani, which has been spared from mass tourism,
for lunch-break (from 2:30 top 4:00 p.m.). Visitors are invited
to refresh themselves at the restaurant at the harbor and enjoy
fresh seafood or go for a swim.
The remaining way back lasts 90 minutes. At 5:30 p.m. the excursion
ends where it started – in Ormos Panagias.
While the large ferry-boats with hundreds of passengers only
take the time to pass by two monasteries closely enough to enjoy,
so that they can make two roundtrips per day, you will enjoy
that Antigoni stays close to the cost much longer, so that you
can see the wonderful architecture and landscape of the spiritual
heart of Greek orthodoxy much better.
Instead of stopping in Ouranopolis like the large ferryboats
do, Antigoni suggests a lunch-break at the romantic island of
Amouliani which is spared from mass tourism, as no large ferries
can land there. |
Price: € 30/Person, children up to 12y: € 15
Because M/Y Antigoni has a maximum authorized capacity of 24 people
